Privacy policy
Last updated: 17 October 2026
This policy explains what Snapera (“we”, “us”) collects when you use the Snapera app and this website, why, how long we keep it and what you can do about it. Questions: [email protected].
The short version
- You don’t need an account. We don’t ask for your name, email or phone number to use the app.
- Your selfie is used only to make the photo you asked for. It is deleted from our servers 24 hours after upload.
- We never use your selfies or photos to train AI, and we don’t let our providers do it either.
- Photos you create are saved on your phone. Our copy is deleted after 24 hours.
- No ads, no selling or sharing of your data for advertising, no tracking across other apps.
- You can delete everything at any time: Settings → Delete all my data.
What we collect and why
| Data | Why we use it | How long we keep it |
|---|---|---|
| App ID: a random identifier the app creates on first launch | To count your free photos and daily limit and to link your subscription to your phone | Until you delete your data in the app |
| Selfies you upload | To create the photo in the style you chose and to check the result looks like you | Deleted 24 hours after upload (a job still running keeps it until it finishes) |
| Photos we create for you | To deliver them to your phone and let you share them | Deleted from our servers 24 hours after creation; your copy stays on your phone |
| Usage data: which styles you use, searches in the app, number of photos, errors | To run the service, fix problems and decide which styles to add | Until you delete your data in the app |
| Subscription status from the App Store or Google Play (plan, renewal date, whether it will renew) | To give you Pro features and to remind you before renewal | Until you delete your data in the app; Apple and Google keep their own purchase records |
| Notification token, app language, time zone and notification settings | To send the notifications you allowed, in your language, not at night | Until you delete your data in the app or the token stops working |
| Support messages: your email address and message | To answer you | Until you delete your data in the app or ask us to delete it |
“Delete all my data” removes all of the above from our servers at once. We don’t receive your payment card details. Payments are handled by Apple or Google.
Faces in your photos
To check that the result still looks like you, we compare the face in your selfie with the face in the created photo. This produces a similarity score. If the score is too low, we try again or offer you a free redo. The comparison is automatic, used only for this check and only for your own job. We don’t identify who you are, don’t build a face database and don’t keep face measurements after the check. The selfie itself is deleted after 24 hours as described above.
Who processes data for us
We use these providers to run Snapera. They may process your data only on our instructions and only to provide their service to us:
- Google (Gemini API): creates the styled photo from your selfie. Under the paid API terms Google does not use this content to train its models.
- Amazon Web Services (Amazon Rekognition): the face similarity check described above.
- Cloudflare: temporary storage of selfies and created photos, and hosting of this website.
- Our server hosting provider: runs the Snapera server and database.
- Expo, Apple and Google: delivery of push notifications.
- Apple and Google: payments and subscription management.
We don’t sell your personal data and don’t share it for advertising. We may disclose data if the law requires it.
Legal bases (EEA, UK and similar laws)
- Performance of our contract with you: creating photos, subscriptions, support.
- Your consent: notifications, and the face similarity check, which you agree to before your first photo. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your data; it doesn’t affect processing already done.
- Legitimate interests: keeping the service secure, preventing abuse and improving it with usage data.
- Legal obligations: for example, accounting records.
International transfers
Our providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, transfers rely on safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your data, object to or restrict processing, and withdraw consent. The fastest way to delete everything is in the app: Settings → Delete all my data. For anything else write to [email protected]. Because we don’t know who you are, we may ask you to send the request from the app (Settings → Contact support) so we can find your data. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
California residents: we don’t sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in the CCPA, and we don’t use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you.
Children
Snapera is not for children under 13, and in the EEA and UK not for anyone under 16 without a parent’s consent. Don’t upload photos of children. If you believe a child has given us data, write to us and we will delete it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Access to our systems is limited to the people who run Snapera. No system is perfectly secure, so we keep as little as we can for as short a time as we can.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above. For significant changes we will tell you in the app.
